Background to Psalms 74


In the book The Silent God, Psalm 74 is discussed as Divine Silence because of Offences. (ps 74:9) There is no reference to the possible cause of the silence or of "any awareness of guilt on the part of the people." Instead, there is incomprehension expressed in why? and how long?

How do we respond in the face of God's incomprehensible silence? Can we trust in the face of silence? Oswald Chambers talks about this trust here. What would you do? Ron Edmondson has gives some suggestions here. Turkish theologian, Ziya Meral urges us to pray with those persecuted for their faith and see situations "When Silence is the Voice", here.
