Background to Psalms 59

Psalm 59, when Saul sent men to watch David’s house and kill him (1 Samuel 19:11) This psalm has a tendency to be used against anyone we demonise as an enemy. Such a reading although not wrong, it strips psalms of the richness of meaning found in the psalms. Mike Reeves, UCCF staff worker, explores the psalms as part of wisdom literature to woo us to know God better rather than handy lifestyle tips, here.
Think about how you have been asked to read the psalms over the past few days.
Think about how a song "reads" or interprets a psalm.
Think about how a person giving a sermon or a talk interprets a psalm.
Think about how you would pray this psalm in a real-life situation.
